  • Minimum Age: 22 Years Old (+1 Year License).

  • Credit Cards: NO Security Deposit required.

  • Debit/Prepaid Cards: €500 Security Deposit required.

  • Security Deposit: €500 (Refunded within 48h after return).

  • Fuel: Fair Policy (Return same as collected).

  • Full Cover: Zero Deductible for bodywork accidents.

  • Important: Tires, glass, and undercarriage are not covered by any insurance.

1. Driver Qualifications

To rent a car with Best Way Travel, the driver must:

  • Be at least 22 years old.

  • Hold a valid driving license for at least one (1) year.

  • Have a valid Credit or Debit Card for the security deposit.

2. Driving License Requirements

We accept licenses based on your country of origin:

  • Group A (National License Accepted): EU Nationals (including Norway, Iceland, UK, Switzerland, Liechtenstein), USA, Australia, Canada.

  • Group B (Card-Type National License Accepted): Albania, Brazil, China, Israel, Russia, Turkey, UAE, Ukraine, and other countries with card-style licenses.

(Note: If your country is not in Group A or B, or you have an old paper license, you must hold a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) along with your national license.)

3. Insurance Packages

All authorized drivers are automatically covered for Third-Party Liability (death, injury, property) and Fire Protection.

We offer two levels of additional protection for the vehicle itself:

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) Reduces your financial liability in case of an accident.

  • Excess Amount: You are responsible for only the first €500 of damage. Best Way Travel covers the rest.

  • Condition: Valid only if the Greek Traffic Law (K.O.K.) is not violated.

Full Cover (FC) – Zero Excess You can choose our premium package for a small daily fee to remove your liability risk for bodywork damages.

  • Zero Excess (€0): You pay €0 deductible in case of accident, scratch, or theft of the vehicle.

  • Condition: Valid only if the Greek Traffic Law (K.O.K.) is not violated.

Important Exclusions (For All Insurance Types) Please note that damages to the undercarriage, wheels, tires, and glass/mirrors are NOT covered by any insurance package (CDW or FC). The renter is fully responsible for these specific damages.

4. Payment & Security Deposit

  • We accept Visa, MasterCard, and Maestro. The payment policy depends on your card type:

    • Credit Card Holders: No Security Deposit is charged. We do not block any amount on your card. We simply keep the card details on file as a guarantee for the duration of the rental.

    • Debit / Prepaid Card Holders: Accepted, but a Security Deposit of €500 is required upon pick-up.

      • This amount will be charged/held and fully refunded within 48 hours after the vehicle is returned without new damages.

      • Note: The cardholder must be present and listed as a driver.

5. Fuel & Charging

  • Fair Fuel Policy: Return the car with the same fuel level as you collected it.

  • Discrepancy: If returned with less fuel, you will be charged for the missing fuel value plus a €10 Refueling Service Fee.

6. Cancellations & Modifications

  • Free Modification: You can change your dates or car type anytime (price will be re-calculated based on current rates).

  • Cancellation Refund:

    • 14+ Days before pick-up: 100% Refund of the prepaid amount.

    • Less than 14 days: No Refund of the reservation fee.

  • Early Return: No refund is given for unused days if you return the car earlier than scheduled.

7. Important Restrictions

  • Ferry Transport: Taking the car on a ferry (e.g., to Santorini/Athens) is strictly prohibited.

  • Traffic Fines: The renter is 100% responsible for any parking or speeding tickets issued during the rental period.

  • Grace Period: You have a 29-minute free delay on return. After 30 minutes, a minimum of one full day’s rental will be charged.

  • If you use a Credit Card: There is NO security deposit required.

  • No. While our Full Cover (FC) reduces your liability for bodywork accidents to €0, it does not cover damages to the undercarriage, wheels, tires, or glass/mirrors. The renter is responsible for these specific damages.
  • No. Ferry transportation is strictly prohibited. Our vehicles must remain on the island of Crete at all times.
  • We operate a “Fair Fuel Policy”. You should return the vehicle with the same amount of fuel as you collected it. If you return it with less, the difference will be charged.
  • If you cancel at least 14 days before your pick-up date, you will receive a 100% refund. Cancellations made less than 14 days in advance are not eligible for a refund of the reservation fee.
